What Is a Battery Energy
Storage System (BESS)?

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) stores electrical energy, generated by your solar panels or drawn from the grid during low-tariff hours, inside battery banks for use whenever you need it most. Instead of surplus solar power going unused or your home or business staying dark during a power cut, a BESS releases stored energy on demand, whether that is the evening, a grid outage or a high-tariff peak period.
A simple example: your solar system generates power from around 8 AM to 5 PM. During the day, any excess electricity charges the battery. At night, or during a power cut, the battery supplies that stored electricity back to your home, factory, hospital or hotel. Think of it as a large power bank, for a building or even for the electricity grid itself.
